A fabric mojari and a leather mojari can look equally festive while needing different care. The useful comparison starts with individual components. A fabric-covered upper may sit over another material, and a leather upper does not automatically describe the lining or outsole.

Ask for a component breakdown

ComponentQuestion to ask
UpperWhat is the visible covering and what supports it?
LiningWhich material contacts the foot?
SoleWhat is the underside made from?
DecorationHow should the trim be handled and cleaned?

This prevents a broad material label from being mistaken for a description of the whole shoe.

Choose for the outfit

A fabric finish may echo an outfit’s texture or decoration. A restrained leather-looking finish can create a simpler contrast. Neither category guarantees comfort or formal suitability. Compare the actual shape and finish with your kurta, trousers and event setting.

Read care instructions before buying

Do not assume fabric shoes can go in a washing machine or that any leather polish is suitable for every finish. Mixed materials complicate cleaning. Ask which method is approved for the exact upper and whether it needs special handling around embroidery. If the instructions are unclear, resolve that before the first cleaning attempt.

Compare fitting and finishing separately

Try both shoes indoors. Check the opening, internal seams and heel security rather than treating softness in a photograph as a comfort promise. Examine the delivered pair for rough points, loose decoration and unexpected differences from the ordered design.

Which material lasts longer?

There is no reliable universal answer based on the label alone. Construction, finish, fit, use conditions and maintenance all affect the result. Ask for product-specific information instead of accepting an unsupported lifespan claim.

For a pair you will use occasionally, think about how you will store it between events. For frequent use, consider rotation, the surfaces you walk on and whether the care routine fits your habits. The better purchase is the one whose details you understand.
